The 17^th century Scottish Brahan Seer ‘When there are 7 bridges over the Ness Inverness will be consumed with fore from Black rain and tumble into the sea. Sheep shall eat men, men shall eat sheep, and a black rain shall eat all things. This prophesy is supposed to cover the period of the Highland clearances although the black rain part of this has been the subject of speculation for many years.

Liber Mirabilis is a collection of Medieval prophecies, first published in 1524. It was translated from Latin to French by Jean de Vatiguerro in 1831. The following anonymous apocalyptic prophecy is drawn from the book:

Those who escape will save themselves and their families, but not for long because a great famine will appear. There will be plenty of food in towns and villages, but it will be poisoned. Many will eat because of hunger and die immediately. Those who will fast to the end will survive because the Holy Ghost will save them and they will be close to God...
